Directions

Garden State Parkway Northbound or Southbound

Turn off at Exit 129 for the (New Jersey Turnpike) and head south to Exit 9. After passing through the toll booths bear right onto Route 18 North; after the ramp onto Route 18 North, get into the left hand lanes; after the first light, move into the 2 far right hand lanes for the local New Brunswick Exits; take the exit for Route 27 South (Albany St/Princeton) and merge on the Albany Street; at the 5th traffic light make a left onto Joyce Kilmer Avenue; make the second right onto Bayard Street; go about 50 yards to the Institute for Health building on your right. The Institute building is located on a lot with its courtyard between Bayard and Paterson Streets. The main entrance is in the courtyard. Handicapped access is available from the small rear parking lot. If the parking lot is full, metered spaces are available on Bayard Street or you can access one of the nearby public garages. The Paterson, New Street, and Wellness Plaza parking decks are closest to the Institute building.
 
Interstate 287 North or South

Take Exit 10 (Easton Avenue). Bear right off the ramp toward New Brunswick. Proceed approximately 5 miles on Easton Avenue. At the intersection of the New Brunswick train station on your left and just beyond the train overpass; turn right at traffic light onto French Street. Turn left at the next traffic light onto Joyce Kilmer Avenue. Take the second right onto Bayard Street. Go about 50 yards to a courtyard and the Institute for Health building on your right. The visitor parking lot is behind the Institute building with handicapped parking and a few reserved spaces. Please call ahead to reserve parking. The Institute building is located on a lot with its courtyard between Bayard and Paterson Streets. The main entrance is in the courtyard. Handicapped access is available from the small rear parking lot. If the parking lot is full, metered spaces are available on Bayard Street or you can access one of the nearby public garages. The Paterson, New Street, and Wellness Plaza parking decks are closest to the Institute building.
 
New Jersey Turnpike

Coming from the North or South turn off the Turnpike at Exit 9. US Route 1

Turn off Route 1 at exit marked Route 18 North (New Brunswick). Stay to the left to continue on Route 18 North. after the first light, move into the 2 far right hand lanes for the local New Brunswick Exits; take the exit for Route 27 South (Albany St/Princeton) and merge on the Albany Street; at the 5th traffic light make a left onto Joyce Kilmer Avenue; make the second right onto Bayard Street; go about 50 yards to the Institute for Health building on your right. Rutgers Parking Lots
 
If you are a Rutgers student, staff or faculty member with a Rutgers parking permit, information on parking locations throughout the New Brunswick campus can be found at the Rutgers Department of Transportation Services. Please note that due to the location of our building, you will need to use a Rutgers shuttle if you plan to park at a Rutgers parking lot.
 
Metered Street Parking
 
Many of the streets in the vicinity of our building allow for metered street parking, but availability of open parking spots is typically very limited.
 
City of New Brunswick Parking Decks
 
The easiest option for parking nearby our building is to use the parking decks operated by the City of New Brunswick. There are a number of parking decks and metered parking areas throughout the city, several of which are located very close to our building. Information on available parking decks and metered parking areas in New Brunswick can be found at the New Brunswick Parking Authority.
 

Via Public Transportation

 
New Jersey Transit's Northeast Corridor Line provides New Brunswick and Newark with local and express service between New York Penn Station and Trenton, New Jersey. For information click on the link provided in this section or call 973-275-5555 or 1-800-772-2287.
 
SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority) provides service in Trenton to and from Philadelphia. For information click on the link provided in this section or call 215-580-7800.
 
Amtrak provides limited or direct service to New Brunswick. However, connections can be easily made via New Jersey Transit trains to principal Amtrak Stations in Metropark, New York Penn, and Trenton. For information click on the link provided in this section or call 1-800-USA-RAIL.
 
Walking From The New Brunswick Train Station

Exit the train station and cross Albany Street – Route 27 and head west. The RWJ Wellness Center is on this side of the street. At the first traffic light (Joyce Kilmer Avenue), cross and make a left. Walk under the train trestle and you will see Destination Dogs restaurant on your right. At the light (Paterson Street), cross and make a right. Walk 25 feet and you’ll see a red banner for the Rutgers School of Nursing on your left before the train trestle. Bear left into the plaza before the trestle. The Institute for Health is to the right of the School of Nursing in the same plaza, the taller of the two buildings. The front entrance is under the triangular overhang.
 
Local Public Transportation

The New BrunsQuick Shuttle, a 16-passenger minibus, provides transport to and from the College Avenue Campus (Rutgers Student Center, Scott Hall, New Brunswick Train Station) to the Institute for Health stopping in front of the building. The shuttle operates Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM until 2:10 AM. The shuttle departs at 15 minute intervals from 6:00 AM until 9:00 AM and from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. The shuttles depart at 12-13 minute intervals from 9:00 AM until 4:05 PM and from 7:05 PM until 9:35 PM. The shuttle departs at 25 minute intervals from 9:35 PM until 1:45 AM (last shuttle).
